That Nazi slogan was lauded by a U.S. economics organization in those days. As I remember, it won some award and was described in a F.A. Hayek book as an example of how far left the United States had drifted in the 1930s

Leftists who try to bluff their way through that lie keep information to a minimum and base it mainly on opinion – ‘expert’ or otherwise.

Would you happen to remember the particulars of that award and where in the F.A. Hayek book you found that? That would be great to add to the stable of references.

It bothers me that it could have been von Mises. And that it wasn't in Human Action or The Road to Serfdom, but some other title. But it was either von MIses or Hayek. The memory comes from whichever book it was I read about 40 years ago; I remember the text and that quote distinctly, but not the author. And it was in reference to an award from a US Economics organization which gave their annual award in the mid-1930s to the German economist who used this as his mantra for Nazi economics.

This will bug me until I forget all about it, then completely trip over it. Maybe someone out there knows the details.

Oh, I know that feeling.

I rooted around under the myriad of papers on my desk and found my copy of Road to serfdom and couldn’t find anything about that.

Yes. It isn't Road to Serfdom, because I can remember that it was a shorter book than that. And had a white cover. But all the books today have been reworked, new covers.
